At school our teachers are constantly reminding us how important it is to conserve water. Water is needed to sustain life, and misuse of this resource can drastically affect our future. Water harvesting is one way of conserving water which is popularly used in areas experiencing water shortage. Therefore clean water is reserved and used for drinking and other important activities only, like in hospitals.
When we say rain harvesting it is collecting or gathering rain water, rain barrels are popular items used in rain harvesting, wherein they collect runoff from rooftops via rain gutters. For an assignment, we made some rain water barrels and placed them under our gutters. The water that we collected from our rain barrel were used to water gardens, wash the car and garage. There are also various rain barrels for sale that can make rain water uncontaminated and fit for drinking. By saving water, we are saving our future.
